La obra explora la sostenibilidad como un proyecto civilizatorio que articula ciencia, política, economía y ética para enfrentar las crisis globales del siglo XXI. Desde los inicios en la Conferencia de Estocolmo (1972) hasta las metas del Acuerdo de París y la COP30 (2025), el texto ofrece una narrativa rigurosa sobre cómo la humanidad pasó de la conciencia ambiental a la acción planetaria.
Cada capítulo revela un eslabón en la evolución del concepto: los fundamentos teóricos y normativos (Brundtland, Río y OCDE), las políticas públicas internacionales, la innovación empresarial y cultural, y las herramientas tecnológicas como la inteligencia artificial, el big data y el blockchain aplicadas al desarrollo sostenible.
El autor propone una lectura crítica y esperanzadora: la sostenibilidad no es solo una política ambiental, sino una nueva forma de organización del conocimiento y de la cooperación global, donde la justicia climática, la resiliencia y la equidad intergeneracional definen el horizonte de 2050.
